New Products under way

I finally have found the time to take some photos of our new products - being brooches, hairclips and singlets. I am hoping that I will have a few bags and softies done in the next week or so to photograph for you.

We are really trying to push the "handmade" style and hope there is an appreciation for hand embroided lace which has been sewn on to the singlets. All our hairclips and brooches are hand made too and are a bit of whimsical fun for little girls.

Business name registered.......woo hoo ..........

But Billy! is officially open for business - woo hoo!

After finding a great craft site (www.craftumi.com.au), new items have been ordered and received in order to put together some of our handmade gifts.

Already I have completed some babies singlets with hand embroided lace work and flowers (photos to come) and some hand crocheted flowers with self covered buttons into little girls hair clips.

Brooches of Babushka's & Owl's are in hand and are looking very cute. Shoulder bags and softie dolls have been cut out and ready to be sewn together. Now to keep the boys occupied for a while so that I can sew in peace (as if!).

My sister "But" has also got things ready to roll however has to entertain house guests for a week so may have to put the creative juices aside until they leave as she also has her daughters 3rd birthday to contend with (not to mention a little baby and a 5 year old boy) busy busy busy.

On a lighter note, tried "Xtend Barre" pilates on Monday night. Totally hooked. Arrived home dragging my feet and body like an 80 year old woman after a day at the boxing day sales! Felt physically ill and needing to vomit - god it was good! Basically pilates meets ballet with all exercises done with hand weights, small fit balls and resistance bands. Who would have thought something so simple could be so effective! Will definately go back for more punishment next week - hee hee!

Happy New Year.

It's an exciting new year with new designs in review and big plans in store!

Hopefully we can start posting some photos of what we have been up to over Christmas and the New Year.

But Billy!

The long road begins

With good intentions to meet this morning, my sisters family are still battling with "Bali Belly" so communication via email it is!

I sat down to draw up our business plan and over an hour later, I am only half way through and feel that preparing a "plan" is more time consuming then actually making our handmade items! I think I could have made a complete toy by now!

So that aside, I have printed off a business name registration form which I will complete and hopefully send off in the next day or two, once I can get "Buttons" signature too.

Then once that is approved we are on our way. Name tags to be printed, an ABN to be registered and then hopefully a website - big dreams, big intentions. Can't go in half heartedly, if you want something done properly you need to plan well. No shortcuts!

Boutique Markets - Perth

We are off to the Boutique Markets (in conjunction with Mathilda's Market) on Sunday 13 November at the Burswood Entertainment Complex, to see what is on offer and how we can fit in too.

"But Billy!" is formed

Good news! After a really good chat with my sister this afternoon, we should be hopefully forming our new 'venture' together this week. Yay!

"But Billy!" is the proposed name which still incorporates our two childhood nicknames but it also makes a statement too.

With pen to paper we can start planning our direction, needs and requirements and can hopefully market our concept. Obviously we will start small but with Christmas just around the corner, this could be good timing!

Can this hobby turn into a marketable and long term enterprise for us. Not sure, but we can only but try and give it our best.

Well after a long hard google - there are too many "Billy & Buttons" around already!!! Need a new "brand name" - "Button Billy" perhaps (yes, just Billy Button has already been taken too!).

Suggestions welcome - after all, I am going to have to persuade my sister about this too.

The creation of Billy & Button

Whilst I have never been one to blog before, let alone read another one's blog - I felt it was time to move with technology instead of running from it!

Billy & Button is about me - where I am from to where I am now, and hopefully an inside into the future. As a child my nickname was "Billy" and "Button" was my sister. A family of two daughters, with loving parents growing up in an average home, in an average suburb where our folks did whatever they could with what resources they had for us.

Although my sister and I were never close, we shared the same interests yet had very differing opinions of them. We did the same sports, went to the same school, wore the same style of clothing, ate the same food - but that is probably where the similarities stopped. "Button" was, and still is, very laid back and is quite accepting of most things. Myself, well "highly strung" and "perfectionist" are probably the first words that come to mind!

Why create "Billy & Button"? Well I am hoping to share a joint venture with my sister, not that she knows about it yet, of creating an online market style site where we can get together and create lovely handmade gift items from bags to toys, for sale.

One thing we both have in common is a knack for being very arty and creative.
